The PHUHS wrestling team went up against several teams this past weekend at Palm Harbor University.

The team went up against 10 other wrestling teams and ended up winning the tournament. Some of the teams included, Countryside, Lakewood Ranch, Sarasota, North Port, and River Ridge High school.

The tournament was a round robin where each wrestler wrestled every single person in their weight class.

Most kids won first in their weight class, but some didn’t place number one. However this won’t deter the team from working hard and making it to States this March.

This weekend the varsity team will head to compete in Pinellas County Athletic Conference (PCAC) which is the county championships. The tournament will take place in St. Pete. They will compete against 16 teams.

If the team wins they will be titled County Champs.

So far the varsity team has won seven tournaments this season. They will continue to do their best and work their way to place in the State championship in a month. Until then they have several more matches and weekend tournaments to prepare them.
