This year the CrossFit games looked a little different than usual. They were held virtually over 2 days September 18th and 19th and finals were held October 23rd-25th in Aromas, California. The finals consisted of 10 athletes, 5 women and 5 men. No spectators were allowed other than coaches, family, media, and all the people who help make the games happen. Despite being pushed back and cancelled a few times, their usual giant crowd, and their usual over a hundred athletes the games still went on

It was clear from the start that athletes Tia-Clair Toomey and Matthew Fraser were going to dominate their competition. Fraser had won the last 4 of the CrossFit games and Toomey had won the last 3. They have started training together and become good friends. They have become an unstoppable duo and lived up to the expectations by taking the title of fittest man and women on earth once again this year.

Toomey is originally from Australia but now lives in Cookeville, Tennessee to train at the gym CrossFit Mayhem. Toomey lives with her husband who is also her coach Shane Orr. She trains 1-3 times a day to achieve her status and is active on Instagram and YouTube, keeping her fans up to date on her life. She makes a point to be remembered as a kind person and that to her is more important than being the fittest. Similarly, Fraser also lives in Cookeville, Tennessee to train at CrossFit Mayhem. He lives with his wife Sammy Moniz who runs the well-known Instagram account Feeding the Frasers.

There has been talk that this year has been one of the hardest in CrossFit games in history. The last event on day 1 will definitely be one to remember. Athletes had to run a 3 mile loop through a varying terrain with an awful twist. Once they got to the end, they were informed that they had to run the loop again. Some athletes took this as an opportunity to redeem themselves, Katrín Davíðsdóttir who would have finished in a lower place ended up in first after her second loop. Whereas Toomey who was in first at the end of the first loop ended up in 3rd after the second.

The last event of the games was Atlanta, this workout left the athletes bleeding bruised and exhausted. The workout consists of a 1-mile run, 100 handstand push-ups, 200 single-leg squats, 300 pull-ups, and a 1-mile run all with a weighted vest on, 14 lbs for the women and 20 lbs for the men.
