An interview with Cross Country runner Lauren Elsey (‘22).

1) What first got you into cross country?

“My siblings used to run xc (cross country) so it became a family tradition I suppose.”

2) What about cross country made you stay a part of it?

“I stayed because I really enjoyed the girls that I ran with. They all make me laugh and xc is a fun environment to be a part of.”

3) What was your favorite part of this season

“My favorite part was the Rodgers Park run where I got a PR (personal record).”

4) Do you have any role models that help you get through the cross country season?

“I don’t really have any role models when it comes to xc, except maybe my brother who ran xc years ago.”

5) Do you have any advice for people who may want to be a part of cross country in the future?

“It’s a very relaxed sport and it’s a lot of fun to be a part of. Make sure to stretch and stay hydrated.”
