-The television show known as The Amazing Race has been on for seasons, but this season got a little more interesting with its internet famous cast.

High maintenance internet celebrities, strenuous tasks, and mentally taxing challenges don’t seem to fit together well at first glance, but they all combine to create an enthralling season of a  television series known as The Amazing Race.

The Amazing Race is a reality competition show that consists of eleven teams of two, racing around the world. While traveling to different parts of the world, the teams take part in both physical and mental challenges. They must deduce clues, navigate through foreign areas, and pay for a means of transportation to travel to new destinations with a limited amount of money provided by the show. There are usually twelve legs of the race. After each leg of the race, a team is typically eliminated, unless it is one of the few non-elimination rounds. The final prize that the teams are fighting for is an immense win: a total of one million dollars.

Although The Amazing Race has been going on for many seasons, twenty-seven to be exact, this season came with an interesting and relatable twist. The contestants of Season 28 are not just ordinary people competing for a chance to bring home the big prize–they are internet famous.

While this show is generally targeted for an older, adult age range, bringing in contestants that are known for their internet accomplishments has expanded the audience to include teens. Certain contestants have such large followings on the internet, like Tyler Oakley with over eight million subscribers on YouTube, that their participation has drawn in a tremendous amount of new viewers.

The Amazing Race hasn’t ditched all of their old traditions in an attempt to increase their number of viewers, though. They obviously kept an aspect of their show that rests at its foundation–traveling the world.

While the teams take on new challenges in a variety of places around the world, the audience is able to watch and explore the world from their own living room. In the latest season, with three episodes already aired, the teams have gone through the little towns and beautiful destinations of Mexico, Colombia, Switzerland, and France.

Many factors combine to make The Amazing Race a worthwhile show to watch, especially this season. The relatable, internet famous cast, the suspense that is created when following how the teams are doing on their challenges, and being able to wander through beautiful, faraway places along with the contestants are what makes the show so enjoyable. Since only three episodes have premiered so far, it’s not too late to start watching. Tune in this Friday at 8 p.m. to watch the teams complete the challenges in French Alps.
