#notmyrodrick

On May 19th, 2017, movie theaters everywhere will showcase the newest addition to the Diary of a Wimpy Kid movies, called Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Long Haul.

Since the last Diary of a Wimpy Kid movie was back in 2012 (Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Dog Days), the film creators thought to introduce a whole new cast to star in the latest movie. On social media platforms everywhere, fans of the old movie franchise have been rioting about the new cast.

Fans have been overwhelmingly upset at the new cast member playing Rodrick Heffley, Greg Heffley’s older brother. Rodrick Heffley will be played by Charlie Wright, replacing the more popular actor known as Devin Bostick. People claim that the new Rodrick does not look like the old Rodrick at all, and they are truly angry at how he is nothing like the Rodrick in the old movies.

On social media platforms, such as Instagram and Twitter, people have come up with petitions titled #notmyrodrick, showing their concern about how the new Rodrick has drastically changed from the previous movies.

The goal of this petition is to get Bostick to come back to the film and portray Rodrick once again. People have made over 200,000 posts rioting against Wright, hoping to get him recasted so Bostick can play the role instead.
